What is Invisalign®

Invisalign®, sometimes referred to as clear aligners, is a method of straightening teeth without traditional metal braces. Invisalign® is commonly used by adults or by people who do not like the traditional look of braces. Dr. Austin is a Certified Invisalign® provider who uses these aligners for comprehensive tooth alignment and correction.

Invisalign® versus Braces?

Invisalign® and traditional braces are similar in that they both straighten teeth for functional, cosmetic or aesthetic desires. They are also used for orthodontic issues but there are some distinct differences.

Traditional braces use metal wires and may cause pain and irritation in the mouth, gums, and surrounding tissue. Metal braces must be worn for up to 4 years and may require follow-up visits every 1 to 4 weeks for adjustments.

Traditional braces take more time to clean your teeth and improper cleaning can still lead to cavities or decay.

Invisalign® braces are almost invisible and removable. Invisalign braces can be removed for a few hours each day, which is a great time to floss and brush your teeth normally. Many people prefer the look of Invisalign® braces over traditional metal braces since the attachments are translucent. Patients wearing Invisalign® braces can expect follow-up visits every 6-12 weeks and can easily change out their aligners every two weeks.Dr. Austin also uses Virtual Care which reduces the amount of appointments.

Treatment time depends on the complexity and position of your teeth, but most patients have aligned teeth in about twelve months or less.

How much does Invisalign® Cost?

The cost of Invisalign® can vary and depends on the complexity of your needed alignment. If you have dental insurance, you may be able to claim the cost on your dental plan. Only 10% of American adults have orthodontic insurance benefits!
